Overview

?

"Disturb not the harmony of fire, ice and lightning, lest these titans wreak destruction upon the world in which they clash." - The Shamouti Prophecy, Pokemon 2000.

This build started off as a project to see how an Elemental Nova build focused in all 3 elements would turn out, utilising Crest of Unity and Unstable Core. I will be keeping it updated as the game versions progress as well.

As a lover of channelled abilities, I really wanted to make this work in its channelled form, but was concerned about my defences. Those worries very quickly disappeared, with the defensive layers of Reowyn's Frostguard and Flame Ward as well as utilising nodes on the tree such Sphere of Protection 6/8 and Runic Fortress 5/6. Having 29 points available for Ele Nova lets you spread out to very important nodes (though an extra 2+ points would be amazing) and scaling SuffixElemental Resistance via Liath's Signet and the node on the Glyph of Dominion tree Arcane Mirror 3/3 to abuse the Elemental Penetration scaling of Crest of Unity along with Infernal Prism 4/7 gives us over 110% Elemental Penetration.

There are a lot of moving parts in this build that I will explain in the gameplay/mechanics and skills section in great detail.

Overall, this is one of my favourite builds and I've had several requests on stream to make a guide for it so here it is! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Pros & Cons

Pros

Amazing DPS able to hit absolutely anywhere you point on the screen, even through walls.

Enemy resistances mean nothing to you.

Several less damage taken modifiers with steady and constant ward and high retention.

70% armour with full stacks of Throne of Ambition, while channelling and with Flame Ward.

Traversal skill also activates main defence in Reowyn's Frostguard.

Cons

Some people aren't a fan of being stationary while channelling.

Mana Consumption can sometimes be an issue.

Ground hazards targeted on you while you're on Glyph of Dominion can be hard to see.

Gameplay / Mechanics

This build relies on specific conversion of skills and placement on the hotbar to ensure we can get Reowyn's Frostguard every time with Runic Invocation.

This combination ensure that the Runic Invocation in your 4th slot is always Reowyn's Frostguard via use of Immutable Order 1/1. We turn it into our traversal skill with Enigma 1/1. The combination of Runic Energy 3/5, Copied Scrolls 4/4 and Arcane Battery 1/1 causes Reowyn's Frostguard to often cast twice at once, giving even more ward, while exploding the first one, which will chill and often freeze enemies around you due to Word of Heorot 3/4, giving us a head start with the ailments we need to make ele nova hit hard.

With all that out of the way, lets get into the gameplay loop. Casting Reowyn's Frostguard and Flame Ward off cooldown to keep our ward up is most important, if you're ever short on runes, don't channel Elemental Nova until you get all 3, just use Runebolt. For the most part with general mono farm, you're able to essentially jump into packs with Runic Invocation and sweep your Elemental Nova across the screen and everything dies very quickly. I only use Glyph of Dominion for either bosses or tough rares to buff the elemental penetration. Throwing out 3 Runebolts to keep your mana up at respectable levels throughout an echo by using Unsealed Mana 6/6 along with Arcane Restoration 4/4 and Attuned Recovery 3/3 is a great way to more or less forego mana regeneration as a stat completely. Always be aware of hazards under your feet, this is why Lightmages are just the worst to deal with.

Equipment

Only needed items are Crest of Unity and Unstable Core. You'll want to make sure you have enough PrefixCritical Strike Chance to cap Ele Nova (test on the dummies) and generic PrefixSpell Damage and PrefixElemental Damage. Try to avoid having increases to just 1 element if you can help it, as it will only be 1/3 effective. PrefixCritical Strike Multiplier will then scale you from there. PrefixIntelligence is also useful in general for most aspects of this build.

Blessings

Can use whichever blessings you like but I'd recommend at least using Grand Survival of Might, Grand Patience of Herkir, and Grand Defiance of Yulia.

Timeline
Blessings
Ending the Storm
Reign of Dragons
The Age of Winter
Fall of the Outcasts
Blood, Frost, and Death
Fall of the Empire
The Last Ruin

Build Variants

Leveling

Until you get and are high enough level to use Crest of Unity and Unstable Core, I highly suggest to level as whatever you feel the most comfortable with. I changed to this as soon as I was able.

Endgame

This build was designed to tackle the endgame without any issues, be it high corruption monos or dungeons. Still has quite a lot of room to improve as well.

Loot Filter

No loot filter is provided for this guide. You can generate a loot filter for this build in the Build Planner or create one using Filter Wizard in the Loot Filters section.
