Overview

?

This build, The Avalanche Shaman, is built around the love of the Diablo 2 character the Druid. I wanted to translate the classic spell Armageddon to Last Epoch. This character is a classic hack and slash character. So do you like a character that’s up close and personal? Do you like a character with flashy skills freezing everything close to you well look no further this might be the guide for you..

In this build, we are utilizing the cold version of the Avalanche, making it our highest hitting spell, as well as a best layer of protection. we will make the Avalanchefollow us into combat freezing everything close by and dealing the most damage.

Our second attack and the most used spell is the newly reformed Tempest Strike. we will be using Tempest Strike to Prock frigid tempest freezing, even more enemies, hacking and slashing our way to the success of the late game systems last Epoch. We will be removing the lightning and the wind part of the spell buffing our own attack speed by 46% making this spell cost zero mana.

Then, finally, what would the Shaman be without its totems? We will be using one but two different types of totems first the Summon Thorn Totem. These will be proced by idol in our inventory. These idols can even help us increase our cold damage by up to 20% by using the combination of chance to Summon Thorn Totem and cold damage based on the amount of totems we have summoned. Alongside the thorn totems we will also be using the Warcry spell making it a totem. The Warcry spell will increase our cold damage, Freeze chance, CRIT chance, pulling enemies together, as well as healing us and giving us the Berserker 1/1.

Last are not least we will be utilizing all good parts of the Fury Leap . But will make Fury Leap, pull enemies together together, lower it cool down, as well as healing us and cleans us.

I hope you’re now hyped to log onto last Epoch with his classic hacking and slash build freezing everything in your path.

Pros & Cons

Pros

Easy and fun to play

A lot of action with different spells to use

Easy to understand the game play

Quick Farmer

Hack n Slash

Safe towards monsters since we are freezing everything

A lot of potential with legendary potential on the gear to make the build even stronger

Leaves you one slow on the skill bar to summon a pet Summon Bear

Cons

Harder to kill bosses since not all bosses can get frozen

Legendary pontential on uniques To Make The Build Shine even more

Not a leveling build because of Avalanche being the last spell in the Shaman tree

Gameplay / Mechanics

Now for the gameplay. We start every monolith and every combat by always making sure our Avalanche is active. The Avalanche should always be up and running, as this serves as a layer, protection, freezing mechanic, and a high damage hitting spell.

If you see a large pack of enemies in front of you, you can either choose to use Fury Leap into the pack or use the Warcry totem to pull them together and then leaping in. You will do more cold damage using the Warcry before leaping into a pack since it increases your cold damage thanks to the node Frost Claw 5/5.

While in boss fights, or facing a tougher enemy like the mage it serves you better always trying to keep up the Warcry totem as it’s improving your damage by 250% increasing your CRIT and freeze rate.

Last and not least hack and slash away using Tempest Strike as it cost no mana and it will help you freeze and deal a lot of damage.

Skills

Passives

Stat Priorities

Equipment

Gear wise there are a few stats we should look more towards. Cold damage, freeze rate multiplier and melee attack speed.

These three stats will be the bread and butter for your new Shaman.

Using the Frostbite Shackles we want to get as much cold res as possible to increase the ward retention.

Other important stats would be to obviously cap your res, CRIT avoidance and be as tanky as possible. We are up close and personal so it’s important to stay alive.

If you have an opening you might as well look into getting cold penetration for that extra spice.

In terms of items we could change the armor for a Exsanguinous and keep this build as low life which seems to be the meta at the moment. If you have access to legendary potential fill the gaps with the stats above and rest is just damage, damage and damage.

Our freeze and offensive is our best defense!

Idols

When it comes to idols I would get two idols with PrefixChance on hit to summon a Thorn Totem and SuffixIncreased Cold Damage per active Totem to improve your chances of having max totems up at all times helping you to sustain mana and freeze enemies.

Rest of the slots would be to cover your defenses or improve your cold damage.

Blessings

Just try to cover your bases when it comes to res, damage and other defensive attributes

Build Variants

Leveling

While leveling this character I would recommend to use a different build. Since this build is based around avalanche, and it’s freezing factors and avalanche following you around this ain’t a build suited for leveling.

Avalanche is the last spell in the Shaman tree, which makes this build hard to level up with.

If you intend to level up using the other skills, you could switch Avalanche to Tornado and switch the damage to physical and switch the cold from frigid tempest to physical using wind tempest on the Tempest Strike skill. Since Avalanche requires you to have about 10 skills into it to make it viable I would recommend you to start with a leveling guide of the Shaman.

Endgame

For the end game just try to keep the freeze rate and cold damage as high as possible and just like almost any other melee build in this beautiful game keep your defensive attributes on par because the higher we push the harder the monsters will hit.

For bosses since this build struggles against bosses because you can’t freeze most bosses I would recommend you to farm a monolith that has a freeze able boss like the reign of dragons. Try to keep your hp at around 2k+ to avoid the one shots.

Loot Filter

No loot filter is provided for this guide. You can generate a loot filter for this build in the Build Planner or create one using Filter Wizard in the Loot Filters section.
