Overview

?

Walter loved to walk fast and drag his feet on the carpet. He was known for his electric personality.

Mechanical Function

We use Mad Alchemist's Ladle, which apparently is the new goto winner in the wand category. Because of the ailments we add, directly and indirectly through brands. Ailments this bad boy is set to apply are (Bleed, Poison, Ignite, Frostbite, Electrify, Shock, Slow, Frailty, Shred Armour, Brand of Deception) For a total of 10 ailments. This is going to add 80% more damage to everything that we do. Since all of our skills (Direct cast, or retaliatory) have hit components, they will have a chance to inflict these ailments. Since these all hit very quickly, even the lowest rolls will give us an ample damage boost.

Retaliatory Mechanic

We require 4 well rolled Adorned Arcane Idol with PrefixChance to cast Elemental Nova when Hit and SuffixChance to gain Lightning Aegis when hit. This is just the beginning of this functionality. We also require a The Ashen Crown. This allows us to retaliate to both RANGED and MELEE attacks all the same and without having to roll our Elemental Nova into the fire, wasting valuable points.

Auto-Bomb Mechanic

Walking will generate copious amounts of Static. This will automatically proc thanks to Overload 1/1 along with Unlimited Power 1/1. We have large damage scaling into lighting as an element as well as into Lightning Blast. This will cause not only several chains but also generate Spark Charge. Spark Charge is also applied by our Elemental Nova 100% of every nova that procs. Lightning Blast will also instantly trigger ALL Spark Charge with the Final Spark 1/1. This is only half of the damage we output, but it is very consistent. We also scale Flame Ward with the Lightning Ward 1/1 as well as Through Flames 5/5, which is converted to add +10 lightning damage to ALL lightning skills we have while Flame Ward is active (almost 100% uptime). Flame Ward is scaled with Telepyrosis 1/1, so that it acts as our Elemental Nova does, and hit enemies either near or far from us. However, we do not put Flame Ward on our bar. We use Frost Wall to activate it with Prepared Wards 1/1, and we can have as many Frost Wall's as we want (but only 1 at a time). Frost Wall also will use our Lightning Blast tree (Lightning Rod 4/4), which as you can imagine, become a ridiculous amount of lightning being applied. Frost Wall also applies our Brand of Deception, which is key to bossing and difficult packs.

Defense

Our 2 The Invoker's Static Touch will keep us topped up on ward. Considering our shock chance (137%) this will give us a up to a 20% chance (if the rings are rolled well) to gain a large boost of ward. These rings also add 26 base spell lightning damage. The base class of runemaster is notorious for ward generation with nodes such as Unsealed Mana 5/6, Arcane Focus 8/8, Transcendence 6/8, Celestial Doom 7/10 and Jagged Veil 4/5. If you ever run into mana problems, you can either stand your ground and auto cast Lightning Blast or consume a potion, which will give us mana thanks to Mad Alchemist's Ladle.

As always, my builds never require LP to function, but the build can be improved if found.

Pros & Cons

Pros

"1 button build"

Mana not a problem

Strong defensive ward scaling

Cons

Requires 3 unique items (Mad Alchemist's Ladle, The Invoker's Static Touch x 2)

Idol gearing can be very difficult

Gameplay / Mechanics

Basic Engagement

Start by using a Frost Wall or 2 or 3 and walking through them to give yourself a serious boost of ward, it will activate Flame Ward each time you go through a Frost Wall, but only once per wall. The important thing is to keep moving. If you stop walking, you will start to lose Static charges, and that's bad. Once you have some static charges and ward, just start walking. Casting Lightning Blast to keep your self occupied, cast it 3 times to gain mana. Frost Wall again for each pack and continue. (See demo video)

Difficult Engagement / Bossing

Same steps to start as before. The only difference is we can manually cast our Static when we have enough charges from time to time. Drop Frost Wall on top of the pack or boss to add the Brand of Deception, and repeat this cycle. Don't forget to walk through the wall for a ward boost.

Build Variants

Leveling

This build will be difficult to level with. Try my shock claw runemaster, than transfer to this once you acquire enough gear. The build can be found here.

Endgame

The chase for any endgame is min/maxing your gear. Double exalted is the goal as well as better rolled idols. GOOD LUCK!

Loot Filter

A good generic late game loot filter for double exalts and T7's can be found here.
