Overview

?

This build revolves around Wraithlord's Harbour to summon a badass, laser-beam shooting, roided-out wraith that will absolutely one shot just about anything on your screen. If you want to see crits pop up on your screen for millions of damage, all while your feet are kicked up on your desk and one hand is scraping the bottom of a bag of Doritos™ this build is for you.

The goal of this build is to buff your Wraithlord as much as possible, all while attempting to fix problems with its AI and remaining tanky enough to survive most encounters. The playstyle is super simple and mostly consists of teleporting around the map with the use of Transplant. We use Infernal Shade, Dread Shade and Bone Curse to buff our Wraithlord as much as possible to enable him to one shot just about anything on your screen.

I opted to build around low-life using Exsanguinous, Last Steps of the Living and the PrefixExperimental Ward per Missing Health on the gloves due to the fact that I got tired of chugging potions every time an enemy decided to look at me funny. Thanks to the Reclamation of Souls and Unnatural Preservation passive tree nodes, as well as stacking a decent amount of intelligence you can pretty easily have over 5k ward, even with suboptimal items.

Pros & Cons

Simple playstyle

Minion build allows you to focus on dodging mechanics (or eating a snack)

Cons

Bad AOE

Wraithlord's AI has a room temp IQ

Applying Dread Shade to the wrong wraith significantly lowers your damage output

Buff management

Gameplay / Mechanics

Now you might be asking yourself, "how in the hell do I pilot such a complicated build"? Fear not, if you are lazy or simply hate to read, these are the buttons you should be hitting (in order):

Make sure to keep Dread Shade up and try your best to not target one of the smaller wraiths with it as it is a huge DPS loss.

ALWAYS re-summon your Wraithlord at the start of a new instance due to a bug(?) that will eat the cooldown of Dread Shade but not apply it to your Wraithlord!!!

Now if you are still reading and want to get into the fun stuff keep reading.

Fixing Wraithlord's AI:

If you have just picked up your first Wraithlord's Harbour and are super excited to try it out, you would do what any reasonable person would do and go respec your whole build immediately only to watch your Wraithlord running around you in circles trying desperately to do any amount of damage as you get swarmed by your enemies and eventually die a horrific death disappointed in your new summon. Just know its not his fault he's like super super super dumb.

To combat this problem it is a must to have PrefixExperimental Minions Transported with Traversal Skills on your boots. This way teleporting anywhere near a pack of enemies will clue your Wraithlord in that, yes, he should be shooting laserbeams and not running around like a lost puppy trying to find its owner. Unfortunately because we opted for a low-life build using Last Steps of the Living our number one priority is crafting a pair that has at least a T2 affix of PrefixExperimental Minions Transported with Traversal Skills. Obviously the higher the tier the better since this affix also scales our damage but honestly take what you can get because this is hands down the most annoying item to craft. You do not need to find a pair of exalted boots with the affix naturaly. By using a Glyph of Insight you can craft the affix on a pair of exalted boots (that preferably have a high roll on movement speed) and then slam them into your Last Steps of the Living and pray.

To further combat your Wraithlord running away from you and actively attempting his best to do 0 DPS we take the Locus Of Death node to root him in place. We do not benefit from the melee attack speed but 45% damage for 1 skill tree point is dope. This has nice synergy with Deadlock allowing us to teleport into a pack of enemies, have them aggro our Wraithlord allowing us to (hopefully) not get one shot and immediately start blasting away at anything on your screen. This allows us to directly control where our Wraithlord positions using Transplant, making it a priority to reduce the cooldown of Transplant as much as possible. We do this by taking 2 Grand Bone Idol that give up to 10% increased cooldown recovery speed as well as using the Ascetic Gloves as the base for our gloves.

Wraithlord's Survivability:

Considering that our only real source of damage is our Wraithlord, it is extremely important to keep him alive. We do this through a couple means, the most obvious being stacking a decent amount of minion health. Reach of the Grave is a nice source of sustain as well as one of the only items that provides minions with an increase in cast speed. One of the biggest sources of sustain is through the use of Bone Curse. Thanks to the Bone Prison node coupled with the Ossify node our Wraithlord gains a substantial amount of health. This is due to Wraithlord consuming non-wraith minions to absorb 10% of their maximum health and for whatever reason Bone Prison counts as a non-wraith minion. This also provides us with a sizable damage boost.

Wraithlords Buffs:

This section is pretty self explanatory but here is why we take the buffs we take:

  • Dread Shade is a huge damage buff, coupled with the fact that the Egoism node allows us to not have to invest at all into minion crit chance it is an obvious choice for this build.

  • Infernal Shade gives our Wraithlord a permanent buff that does not have to be reapplied thanks to the Soulfire node. It also grants a stacking damage buff that caps at 180% as well as a stacking cast speed buff that caps at 72% thanks to the Subjugation and Manic Pyre nodes.

  • Bone Curse as discussed above grants our Wraithlord a crazy amount of health as well as a sizable damage bonus. You can also cast it on enemies to apply Shred Armour and Marked For Death but honestly most things will die from one hit anyways making this mostly useful on bosses.

Endgame

For the endgame version of this build prioritize stacking as much health, ward retention and intellect as possible. While absolutely obliterating bosses is fun once you start pushing higher and higher corruption staying alive is the number one priority.

Make sure you cap your resistances and cap your critical strike avoidance.

You should prioritize these items while pushing harder content:

  1. Last Steps of the Living with minion traversal experimental mod (and ideally a high roll of cooldown recovery speed)
  2. Exsanguinous with T7 level of summon wraith and as much intelligence and health as you can get
  3. Exalted gloves with T7 % of missing health gained as ward
  4. A Fleshbound Tome or a Opulent Focus with T7 ward per second
  5. Reach of the Grave with T7 Necrotic Penetration (and as much Minion spell damage as you can get)

Our rings, belt and relic slots are great places to fill out your resistances and critical strike avoidance.

Another option for the glove slot is Julra's Obsession with T7 % of missing health gained as ward as well as a high roll of cast speed. However these will be require an extreme amount of luck and patience to farm and should not be prioritized in my opinion.
