Overview

?

This build consist of using mainly two skills in alternance, Synchronized Strike and Shadow Cascade. It has been done for a long time but I think this one is slightly different and while at least as good, is probably better. I've spent over 850 hours on Last epoch, most of which was spent clearing monolith faster than my own shadow ( :D ) on this character. This is a melee Physical Damage build that is best when used to farm monolith reliably until at least 500 corruption levels and can be pushed up to a thousand. It is in between squishy and tanky and will require quick hands at higher corruptions to stay alive.

-If you are new to Last Epoch, skip this build (And hopefully, once you have experienced the game by yourself, instead of a game guide, come back and try this build!). The build is mana intensive, can be built with only rares/exalted items and can perform decently even with bad gear. The game is intended to be experienced first, as it's made with love to be accessible. Be creative!-

The skills we specialize in are Synchronized Strike, Shadow Cascade, Smoke Bomb, Shurikens, and Shift.

Shift is the movement ability that will give us movement, deal damage as well as trigger a good amount defenses through Shurikens and a bit of sustain through Skiasynthesis/Shadow Recuperation.

Shurikens Is triggered by Shift and gives us 150% increased armor rating through Bladed Armor (x5 shurikens). It will also provide our Armor Shred via Abrasive Arsenal.

Smoke Bomb Is used while clearing monoliths when in a bad spot or sporadically to grant yourself a Silver Shroud stack with Moonlight Bomb.

Synchronized Strike Will give us some buffs as well as helping us trigger many Shadow Cascade at once.

Shadow Cascade Is our main damage ability. It is a cool slash in a circle with dual weapons that can be triggered by shadows, created either by Shift's Dancing Shadows or Synchronized Strike.

This is one of the best build for any classes, especially rogue and is a ton of fun.

Pros & Cons

Pros

Ultra fast clear

Decently fast movement speed

Decently fast Boss clear

Can clear all content (as of 0.92 and without a doubt 1.0)

Zed from League of Legends

Many big numbers at once

Cons

Mana intensive, there's a bit of waiting for mana to regenerate.

Requires good reflexes as class is vulnerable to one shot (medium health pool)

Relies on dodge to work, requires some investment before truly optimised. Still good with bad gear.

Gameplay / Mechanics

Go back to the overview for the basics of how the class mechanics works.

As for this section, I'll use it to talk about everything in more details.

  • You'll want to use Shift to roam the maps as fast as possible, spawning Shurikens to ge the 150% increased armor buff.
  • When you see weak mobs, you can try to clear with Shadow Cascade, other wise, open with Syncronized Strike. This will Create Shadow x4, allowing us to follow up with Shadow Cascade for ton of damage, each attack decreasing their armor, applying frailty, etc.
  • You'll have to try to position so the shuriken hits the bigger enemies to shred physical resistances.
  • Keep moving to get the bonuses from Evasion, rinse and repeat.
  • For the tankiest enemies in higher corruptions, you might have to use Synchronized Strike/Shadow Cascade multiple times.

On bosses, you will most likely have to Shift away, replenish mana in 1 to 4 seconds and go back in.

Stat Priorities

Equipment

For this section I recommend you go read the table below to check what stats we want on what item. I will only explain why here.

The rest is pretty obvious.

Important : The table below show what I currently have on my character as an example and proof, but you should refer to the build variant for optimal gear.

Explanation for base choices :

  • Obsidian Dagger : The bases are simply the best with 43 base damage (The Maximum on daggers is 44) as well as +4% base critical strike chance and up to 80% increased physical damage.
  • Brigandine Armour : Highest armor rating for rogue and gives us good physical resistance.
  • Umbral Visage : Pretty high armor and decent critical strike multipler.
  • Jade Amulet : Start with this before eventually switching to LP 2+ Xithara's conondrum. Look for Health, physical penetration, crit multiplier and resistances. (The reason I pick Xithara is it cut out sustain but gives us a good amount of damage. More damage is mostly only in the skill tree)
  • Ivory Ring : For the necrotic resistance, that's all!
  • Solarum Greaves and Crusader Gauntlets because it has higher armor and good resistances for their respective slots.
  • Bronze Belt : Highest armor rating.
  • Ancient Coins : Highest crit chance.

Idols

Try to use the idols to cap the resistances (with smaller percentages). Note that Vitality gives +1% necrotic and poison resistance.

Honorable mentions : PrefixDodge Rating, PrefixIncreased damage per active Shadow with Shadow Cascade, SuffixIncreased Armour Shred Duration are also very good.

Blessings

This section will be short as you should take exactly what I have with one note : In my current build, for Ending the Storm's blessing, I took Grand Resonance of the Sea as my lightning resistance was already capped. I would need to get rid of this and pick Grand Bastion of Divinity.

As for Reigns of Dragons, taking Grand Survival of Might is also good, but unecessary.

Fall of the Outcasts
Blood, Frost, and Death
Fall of the Empire

Build Variants

Leveling

See other guides for leveling, but I recommend that you just play the game and have fun. If you're looking to try a build and level as fast as possible, more experienced people will provide the guide :)

Endgame

After 200 corruption, you'll need to learn what can one shot you or kill you very quickly (I.e. AoE Damgage over time)

Refer to other sections for more details as the build is built around end game in the first place.

Loot Filter

I've explained all the important stats, please refer to the equipment section to priorize (Idols section too, if need be). I personally do not have a loot filter (I'm too lazy to make one, but apparently not to make a guide, sue me!)
